Get a Library Card

Bloomfield residents over the age of 18 are eligible for a library card if they can present photo ID with official proof of address. Official proof of address includes driver's licenses, lease agreements, utility or tax bills, medical paperwork, or school documents. You may sign up for a library card online but you will need to bring in your ID to pick up your new card.

Once you have your Bloomfield Public Library card, you can visit and borrow from any of the 77 BCCLS libraries. You may also use your library card to log into the bccls.org website, place requests for any of the more than 5,000,000 items available within the BCCLS system (includes books, magazines, newspapers, DVDs, CDs, audio books, games and software). Your requested items will be delivered within a matter of days to the BCCLS library of your choice, and you may return your materials to any BCCLS library.

If you need assistance, please contact a librarian so they can help you obtain the materials you want.

With your Bloomfield Public Library card, you can...

  • Log in to the BCCLS website 24/7 to request items, check on their delivery status and renew your already borrowed books and media.

  • Request items from any of the 77 BCCLS libraries in person at both the Main Library and Children's Library.

  • Be conveniently notified by text or email when your requested items are available. Items will be held for you for four business days at the front desk in the Main Library.
